Tourism in Germany almost deleted the effect of Covid-19

The largest economy in Europe has been developing in considerable trials in the last year, but its tourism booms. This is shown by the results for the past year, which were recently presented at the traditional annual event of the German Board Board in Bonn.

According to them, the levels of the last normal year before the pandemic were almost reached – foreign tourists were 94.8% of the number, reported in 2019. Although relatively expensive for a whole destination, more and more Bulgarians are traveling there for tourism, compared to years ago, mainly by plane and car, not by bus.

By comparison, globally restoring international tourism reached 98.7% of the level in 2019.

Over the past year, foreign tourists remained for 85.3 million nights at 80.9 million a year earlier in Germany, with the number of arrivals being 1.445 million. For several years, the country has systematically imposed sustainable tourism-to devote a longer stay in one destination instead of going to a few shorter, to use trains for shorter destinations, to consume local products.

Germany offers tourism to satisfy different flavors – a visit to historic buildings, cultural events, natural landmarks and urban entertainment. Destination Germany is the second most popular among European tourists, annual data show. According to them, 57.4 million trips have been registered there over the past year. Spain is the most popular with 79.2 million trips. Third is France with 43.1 million.

More than half of Europeans – 59%, choose the country for vacation, 215 travel to work and even more – for another type of travel.

Without surprise, 87% of the bookings of travelers to Germany were made on the Internet, only 28% of the nights were made directly through the places where guests stay, only in 15% of the cases the Internet services were used.

The record holder is Bavaria province with 20.8 million nights in 2024, followed by the city of Berlin – by 12.8 million and Baden Württenberg province – with 12.1 million the most famous city in the last is Stuttgart.

For Europeans, Germany is the number one destination for cultural tourism, with 21% of international trips for vacation.

Almost a quarter of Europeans – 24% are planning to visit Germany this year, according to data from a study conducted in the fall of the previous year.
