Toskovski: For the tragedy in Kocani over 50 suspects, the investigation is still ongoing

Over 50 suspects are currently being treated for the tragedy in Kocani. The investigation is not over, it is still ongoing, and prosecutors have shown that it could really be worked differently in Macedonia, Interior Minister Pance Toskovski said today.

Toskovski is clear that the Ministry of Interior has been filed against each one for which there is evidence, and that anyone who will find evidence will be properly evidence that it is caused-effectly related to the criminal-legal event in terms of fulfilling elements of a specific crime.

According to him, the Ministry of Interior is not spared by an investigation that covers the period from 2012 to the present.

-We are currently in the process of investigation, the investigation is being conducted by the public prosecutor. Yesterday we had detailed information within the facts and circumstances that could be shared with the public. The investigation is not over. We cannot turn the Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of Interior into a « interruption » because some politically unnamed mercy on the anger of the Macedonian people who have caused them to use them even more in the direction of stealing, manipulating and gaining political points. I will never allow it as a minister. I am working in the interest of the citizens and so far the work of the public prosecutors I see dedication, I see that 11 prosecutors are focused on completely clearing up this case, along with the MoI investigative teams, something that has been an unthinkable noun in the past – said Toskovski, answering journalist questions after the day.

He underlined that no one would be tolerated.

-Not only in the past, but now it will be acted. You see, for the first time in Macedonia there are facts that, unlike previously, say that this MoI is working differently than before. Tell me another example when the MoI « In Flagrants » caught a Supreme Judge or acted against the active security of the highest officials in the country or an active minister of the current government in guidance, coordination and next to the Public Prosecutor. Amnesia has been in the past when accidents that killed 75 people MOI did not file any criminal charges against any suspect. Amnesty then had, now I cannot agree that there is a three criminal charges in the MoI if not four and is currently undergoing over 50 suspects. We cannot even compare with such cases in far more developed countries in terms of how far the investigation has been gone. I congratulate the prosecutors who showed that it could really work differently in Macedonia. The investigation is being conducted by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Interior has filed criminal charges that, until the moments of taking action, considered to be submitted. Against every one for which there is evidence is a submissive application by the Ministry of Interior – said Toshkovski.

He assessed that SDSM, DUI and Levica are trying to manipulate the public with the allegations they are spreading.

Compared to the past one year, Toskovski has agreed that there have been disadvantages in the MoI, which is why, there is responsibility, and so far, as of yesterday, criminal charges have been filed against seven police officers.

« There will be other police officers who will be the subject of an investigation in the coming period, » the minister said.
