Interior Minister Pance Toskovski said today that police officers working in the field are missing, and in the meantime there is overwork to other positions in the Ministry of Interior. Because of this, as he explained, a new Law on Interior and a New Law on Police are working. In the future, he noted that a new systematization will be worked on, which will allow for maximum, rational and efficient spending of citizens' money, but also to allow police officers to be visible on the ground.

– Not only in the SIA Tetovo, but almost on the territory of the whole country, in the part of those positions within the Ministry where there is hard work, where the police officer should be on the ground, so that Macedonian citizens can live safely, there are always employees. In the other, the comfortable part, where they are not exposed to rain and wind, are not exposed to the street to endanger their lives, there is a surplus of employees – said Toskovski today.

He said that operational plans and all employees of the Ministry of Interior would be activated. As he said, they have already started in Skopje, and the second city to implement the operational plan with internal distribution within the existing mobility will be Tetovo.

– Time will tell for a short time, in two weeks from now on you will see a difference compared to before. If you ask me if there is a sufficient number of employed police officers in the team and traffic teams, I will answer that there is no one. But if you ask me the comfortable positions in terms of chiefs, managers, those fine and cultural positions within the ministry that are very well known in the public, there is overwork. But we also have a solution for that. We are working hard on a new Law on Interior and a New Law on Police, and in the future of new systematisms. We need to allow police officers to be visible on the ground, and in order to be visible on the ground there should be them on the ground. To have them on the ground, there should be less « sleepers » in the ministries and more workers – said Toskovski.

He added that an in -depth analysis is being done and we are working to introduce essential changes to the legal regulations.

He announced that the March salary that employees within the interior ministry would receive in April would increase by about 10 percent.

– This has already been discussed with all the stakeholders within the Government, both the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance have been discussed. If you ask me it should be increased by much more, but in the coming period we will have a continued increase in the salaries of police officers, especially those who expose their lives to risk. We will have many steps in the future that will be aimed at improving the working conditions of the police officers – said Toskovski.
