Tomorrow a team of specialists from the University Clinic for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, KARIL, Cob « September 8 », St. Naum Ohridski Hospital and the Toxicology Clinic will perform examinations and evaluation at the General Hospital – Kocani of all patients returned from the country. The goal is, as Deputy Minister of Health Jovica Andovski said today, to determine the condition of each patient separately and the need for further rehabilitation, care and aids.

Andovski at a press conference emphasized that after the unfortunate event on March 16, the team of the Clinic for Plastic Surgia was fully involved in the treatment and assistance of patients. This was confirmed by the director of the Clinic Jasmina Gjorgjievska Pavlovska.

Seven patients are being treated in the country, and 11 are still 11. A total of 18 are still non -healing burns that need surgical treatments. Three of the patients in the country are hospitalized at the University Clinic for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, two in « Sistina » and two in the General Hospital – Kocani. Another 40 people are on physical therapy and 30 are on a platelet-enriched plasma therapy.

Authorities argue that if there is a need for the General Hospital – Kocani, where 10 health professionals are already specially trained in the physical and psychological rehabilitation of patients, the other 35 who have undergone such training from the UK team will be transferred. There are also other centers ready to respond to the needs of patients at the Kocani hospital. The ministry is in everyday communication with the hospital director and if she seeks help, she will respond immediately.

-All patients have phone numbers from our teams, all of our doctors and may look for them at any time when they need it. Our clinic is currently hospitalized three patients who still have open wounds. Some may also need to perform a skin transplant. Those patients were in a very serious condition, all were sent with questionnaires whether they would stay alive. We are grateful to all countries that have accepted and treated, but due to the extensiveness of the injuries, especially these patients with severe injuries returning among the last and who have very deep burns and wounds, will need longer treatment and rehabilitation period – informs Gjorgjievska Pavlovska.

HIF Director Saso Klekovski reminded that the tragedy was about 200 injured, of which 115 were interrupted for treatment abroad.

-In addition to the evaluation taken by the Ministry of Health, we will invite the team from Israel who was here at the beginning of the tragedy, to give an opinion on further patient care. The first predicts all the injured abroad to return to the hospital from which they are sent for treatment – Klekovski said.

According to the protocol, when returning from treatment, patients in the country are examined by a team of a plastic surgeon, psychiatrist, pulmonologist and toxicologist after which they are diverted to further treatment.

Andovski earlier at a briefing with reporters that all 11 patients treated abroad are in stable condition. Of these in Greece there are three (in Athens two and one in Thessaloniki), two in Turkey, in Serbia four are in Serbia, and one patient is in Austria and Slovenia.
