At the time of his crash at the end of November last year, Tom Waes did not wear a belt and had 2.44 promille alcohol in the blood, or the equivalent of at least fourteen pints, Het Laatste Nieuws reports. The actor/presenter must appear in court on 5 May.

In the night of 29 to 30 November, Tom Waes bumped into Antwerp after an evening out in Antwerp with his old -timer Porsche against a botsbsorbearer just before the Kennedytunnel. A seriously injured Waes had to be taken from the wreck of his car by the fire brigade and was rushed to the hospital. Not much was left of his car.

In the meantime, the investigation into the accident has been completed, reports Het Laatste Nieuws. Several sources confirmed to the newspaper that the 56-year-old actor and presenter did not wear a belt at the time of the crash and that he had 2.44 promille alcohol in the blood. According to the newspaper, that amounts to at least fourteen pints.

That Waes was drunk at the time of the facts was no longer a secret. In a statement a few days after the crash, he also admitted that himself and also on video images that were made in Antwerp earlier that evening, it showed how Waes had already drunk too much.

A few days ago, Waes received the visit from a bailiff, who helped a summons for the police court. Waes must appear in court on 5 May, also confirms his lawyer Bart Verhoeven, from the Blomme Legal office.

Waes will have to answer for driving under the influence, driving an obstacle, driving without a belt and unintentional blows and injuries. He risks a driving ban and a fine.
