In the Trusin village and in Ahmici near Vitez, Central Bosnia, on Wednesday, 32 years have been marked since war crimes against Croats or Bosniaks were committed there in 1993.

With the laying of wreaths at the memorial in Trusina and Holy Mass at the Parish Church in Zitaca, she has been honored for 23 people of Croatian nationality killed by members of the BiH Army.

There were fifteen civilians among the victims, while eight HVO members were killed after surrendering. The youngest victim had only two years old

According to the 1991 census, 155 people of Croatian nationality lived in Trusina, and now there are no more.

The crime was committed by members of the « Zulfikar » unit from the BiH Army and its five members were convicted therefore before the Court of BiH for a total of about 50 years in prison.

Pastor Don Marin Maric said it was important to remember the victims, but also to advocate forgiveness without which there was no progress.

« I believe those who have remained alive have forgiven, » Don Marin said.

On April 16, 1993, BiH shook another serious war crime committed by HVO members in Ahmici.

In the attack on that Bosniak village, 116 people were killed, including 32 women and 11 children.

Bob Stewart, a retired Colonel of the British Army, who commanded the UNPROFOR unit, whose members discovered the crime, also spoke at the commemoration held in Ahmici.

He said the international community in 1993 failed Ahmic and could not stop complaining.

« We couldn’t believe people could do something like this to other people, » Stewart said.

At the time, HVO commander Dario Kordic was sentenced to 25 years in prison for a crime in Ahmici in Ahmici in front of the Hague tribunal, while Pasko Ljubicic was sentenced to 10 years in prison in BiH.
