Today March 8! International Women's Day, How did the US begin from the US Movement for Rights

Today is March 8, International Women's Day, also known as Mother's Day.

In many countries around the world this day is marked with protests, in Albania mainly in honor of this day, mothers and women are given various gifts, where the most common gifts are flowers, which symbolize respect and love.

How and where was the woman's day born?

In accordance with the statement of the Socialist Party of America, the first national day of women, was celebrated in the US on February 28, 1909. By 1913 this day continued to be celebrated on the last Sunday of February.

At the international socialist meeting in Copenhagen in 1910, it was decided that the 'Women's Day' would be celebrated around the world, in honor of the women's movement for their rights and to support women in recognizing their status in society.

The conference was attended by 100 women, from 17 countries around the world, including the first three women who were elected as a member of the Finnish Parliament.

As a result of the decision taken in Copenhagen, a year later, in 1911 women's day was decided to celebrate for the first time on March 19, in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland, where millions of men and women participated in the organization dedicated to this day. Women demanded the right to vote, governance, work, education and prohibition of discrimination at work.

Just days after this decision, on March 25, a tragic fire in New York killed over 140 girls during their working hours. This event was of great importance in establishing new laws on working conditions.

In 1913 Russian women celebrated women's day, the last Sunday of February as part of peace manifestations. While in other parts of Europe in 1914 this day began to be celebrated on March 8, accompanied by meetings and manifestations against World War I.

As a result of the loss of over 2 million Russian soldiers during World War I, Russian women on the last Sunday of February 1917 joined hunger strikes dedicated to « bread and peace ». Four days after these strikes began, Cari was forced to resign and the Provisional Government gave women the right to vote in Russia.

The event happened on February 23 with the Julian calendar, which was used in Russia at the time. According to the Gregorian calendar used everywhere in the world, this date falls on March 8.

Since that day, « International Women's Day » has received other dimensions, and began to be celebrated around the world. On this day it is reflected on the courage and actions of ordinary women who played an important role in the history of women's rights.

On March 8, 1910 in the US, Canada and elsewhere around the world, major women's rights were made, and that day the rights of women and men are rights.

Why is mimosa flowers a symbol of the holiday?

Even in this case the stories are different. But it seems that Mimoza has been used as the symbol of the Italian woman's feast symbol. In 1946, the Italian women's union was preparing for the post -war March 8. A flower was required to symbolize this day. It was the women themselves who chose the yellow, soft flowers and the whole fragrance for their holiday. In addition, mimosas bloom exactly the period when March 8 is celebrated.
