Today is the Sunday of Lar, the day that opens the big and sacred week of Easter
Responding to the gift of ourselves, the greatest gift that Jesus Christ made again during the Great Easter Week. In the Old Liturgy of Larry Sunday, as soon as he reached the church, he knocked firmly with the cross of the procession at the still -closed gate, which after this knock was open … a very beautiful figure for the mystery of Jesus Christ himself, with the wood of his own cross, with the power of his love, by the gate.
The Word of the Lord of this Sunday of Larry or the flowers that opens the great and sacred week of Easter invites us all, and especially young people to counteract violence and lie, and not to enjoy what they all think or do, but to seek God, to follow Jesus Christ, the king of peace and righteousness.
With the blessing of the palm trees and gem of the olives, the Church explains to us that with this gesture we imitate the accompaniment of the crowd and the disciples who, full of festive joy, follow the Lord Jesus entering Jerusalem. And like them, we, through this rite and gesture, want to praise God aloud of all the miracles we have seen with our eyes and experienced in our lives. Even today we see how he inspires men and women to give up the comfort of their lives, to fully serve people who suffer and who are sick, unjustly persecuted; how he gives courage to men and women care for others, to oppose violence and lie, to make room for love and truth; How he encourages men and women to do good to others quietly, secretly, and without seeking to look, to bring the reconciliation where hatred kills, to inspire peace, where hostility reigns.
With the blessing of the palm trees, then, we proclaim our faith over the royal power of Christ, we know Jesus as « king of peace and justice ». Knowing it as king means: To admit that it is the one who shows the way, the one we believe in, the one we follow. It means accepting day by day his word as a criterion of valuable to our entire lives. It means to look at the power to which we are fully subjected to, for his power is the power of truth.
Psalm 24, which was also sung in Israel, is sung in the liturgy of Lar. The song accompanied the procession that climbed to the temple Mountain. This psalm through the image of physical ascension symbolizes spiritual ascension and explains what it means to climb with Christ. And those who climb and want to reach really, must be people who seek God. People who observe around themselves to seek God, to see His true face. Dear friends, how much important is this, today, for each of us: let’s not allow ourselves to fluctuate the wind; Not to enjoy what they think, everyone says. To investigate ourselves in search of God. Let us not allow the desire to find God in our souls. The desire for what is the biggest thing. The desire to know him – his face, his heart.
If you really want to climb – Psalmi reminds us – you have to meet a condition: having innocent hands and heart, pure. Innocent hands are hands that are not used for acts of violence. They are hands that are not stained with corruption, bribes, favoritism, abuse of any nature. Pure heart, yes, when is the pure heart? Pure is the heart that does not pretend, which does not stain itself with lies and hypocrisy. That remains translucent like the water of the source, because it does not know what it means to be a two -page teacher. Pure is the heart that is not due to complacency; The heart in which love is true, not a passion for the moment. Innocent hands and pure hearts: if we walk with Jesus, we are purified and climbed to the height of which man is predestined: at the height of friendship with God himself.
In the Old Liturgy of Sunday, the priest, as soon as he arrived in front of the church, knocked hard with the cross of the procession at the still -closed gate, which after this knock, opened… a very beautiful figure for the mystery of Jesus Christ himself who, with the wood of his cross, with the power of his love, by the world; on the part of mankind that was no longer finding the way to enter God.
With the cross Jesus opened the gate of God, the gate between God and men. It is now open. But the Lord knocks on the other side: it knocks on the gates of the world, on the gates of our hearts, which most and most of them are closed to God and relatives. It speaks to us more or less: if the evidence that God gives you in creation of His existence they fail to make you open your heart; If you indifferently follow the word of God and the message of the Church, then look at me, Jesus tells us, see me the Lord who has been trying for you, who suffers personally with you – see that I suffer for your love and open my heart, I God. shines with its divine light.
