Today is a day of mourning: Here’s what is forbidden for the death of the Pope

On the occasion of the death of St. Father Francis, the Government of the Republic of Croatia declared Saturday, April 26, 2025, on the day of mourning. These are clarification for citizens, especially related to the maintenance of events that day.

The Government says that the decision applies solely to public events, and that of fun character, while private events do not regulate it.

On the occasion of the death of the Holy Father, Francis of the Government of the Republic of Croatia made the decision to declare the Day of Sorrow in Croatia on Saturday, April 26, 2025, and in accordance with the aforementioned decision of the entertainment event, they cannot be held at a time of 7am to 7pm. Consequently, and in order to express regret and compassion for the death of St. Father Francis, we invite all sports stakeholders to adjust their activities to the above.

All sports competitions on the day of mourning should be held without entertainment (between 7-19 hours) and with flags lowered to half a spear, in accordance with the Government’s decision. We also recommend that all sports competitions start a minute of silence on Saturday. The Holy Father was an example of caring for all people, and especially for the weakest, he always emphasized his love and respect for sports values ​​and sports, and in these extremely sad moments we show compassion and expressions of respect for the Holy Father Francis.
