Mechelen

Those who come more often know the traffic situation as his pocket, but with drivers who drive through Mechelen for the first time, the confusion can sometimes strike when they see these traffic signs on the Battelsesteenweg.

The meaning of traffic signs figuring it out is not always simple, especially if you come for the first time. That card opposition member Anne Delvoye (N-VA) on with a post on the Facebook group ‘GE HEEN VAN MECHELEN ALS’. She posted a photo of a trio of traffic signs and wonders if everyone knows what is or is not allowed in that situation. « The debate was immediately cranked, » she says.

In the responses, several Malinois quickly made clear how the fork is in the stem. If you look at the plates for more than a few seconds, you will soon come to the same conclusion. Yet there is understanding in the comments section. « I immediately know where I am and I am allowed in both directions, » a Mechelaar responds. « Although I understand that it is often confusing: it is a lot of information that you must have seen in a short time. »

« It’s probably about being able to interpret something like that in a fraction of a second, » says a fellow townman. « The same with signs that indicate the school streets. If you have to read all those start and end hours (…), you will stand still for a while. »
