To strengthen this part of the body may extend your life by several years

In the study, researchers analyzed data from 1,314 patients over a period of 30 years of CAD, which had been admitted with acute coronary syndrome or had a bypass operation.

Over an average follow -up period of three to five years, 118 deaths were recorded for all reasons and 63 heart -related deaths among patients. The death rate was higher among patients with low quadriceps strength.

« A high level of strength in Quadriceps was strongly associated with a lower risk of both general and heart -related mortality in patients with CAD, » the researchers concluded.

« Measurement of QIS (quadriceps isometric strength) provided additional prognostic information in addition to existing risk factors. »

But Dr. Sood said this context does not only apply to people with heart problems.

« This is not only apply to patients with CAD. Research shows that higher strength in the upper and lower body can reduce mortality in the general population – regardless of age, » he explained.

Dr. Sood also referred to another study published in the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2018. It showed that higher grip and knee tiges were associated with longer life.

« Higher levels of muscle strength in both upper and lower body are associated with lower mortality in the adult population, regardless of age and follow-up period. Muscle strength tests can easily be performed to identify people with low muscle strength and thus increased risk of mortality, » wrote the study’s authors.

To improve thigh strength, Dr. Sood Three Exercises: Squats, Lunges and Strength Training With Resistance.

« So remember that Ben-Day is not just about training. To strengthen your legs with exercises like squats, lunges and resistance training can actually help you live longer. Make sure you don’t skip Ben Day, » he rounded off.
