Slow down to pollute less. The prefect of police ordered a drop of 10 to 20 km/h of the maximum speed authorized on the roads and highways of Ile-de-France Wednesday March 5 from 5:30 to midnight, « In order to reduce the emissions of pollutants in the atmosphere ».

On the roads and highways, motorists will have to drive at 110 km/h on the portions limited to 130 km/h, at 90 km/h on those limited to 110, and at 70 km/h on those limited to 90 or 80 km/h, details the prefectural press release. « The use of individual heating with auxiliary or approval wood » is also prohibited, adds the prefecture.

Authorized speed reduction is increasingly frequent to try to deal with pollution episodes. In recent weeks, such measures have been taken in the North, Pas-de-Calais, Haute-Garonne or in Oise.

To fight against fine particles in particular, the Paris town hall has also set up, Monday, March 3, A queue reserved for carpooling and public transport on the Parisian ring road and part of the A1 and A13 motorways.
