To be compassionate, God is especially revealed in the suffering man!

« Every sister and every brother is the dwelling of God » and his presence « is especially revealed to the little ones, the poor and those who suffer, asking us to be attentive and compassionate Christians. » Commenting on this 6th Sunday’s Gospel of Easter (see Jn 14: 23-29), Pope Leoni XIV reminds us that we should not rely on our strength, but on the mercy of the Lord who chose us, even if we are fragile. God is not ashamed of our human nature, even comes to dwell within us and makes us a means of His love for others, for society, for the world.

Pope Leoni XIV began as usual, the Marian prayer of the heavenly kingdom, wishing the crowd filled with St. Peter’s Square this Sunday, occupied by two strong emotions: Prayers for Pope Francis’ souls and cheers for the appearance of Pope Prevost in that window, which carries extraordinary memories.

Dear brothers and sisters, Happy Sunday – it was the usual Sunday congratulations to the square – followed by the hail of the crowd, followed by the voice of Pope Leoni.

To rely on the mercy of the Lord
A few days ago – recalled Pope Prevost – I started my ministry between you and, first of all, I want to thank you for the love you show me as you ask you to support me with your prayers and proximity:
« In all that God calls us, both in the way of life and in the path of religion, sometimes we feel insufficient. However, this Sunday’s Gospel (see Jn 14: 23-29) tells us that we should not rely on our strength, but on the mercy of the Lord that chose us, sure that the Holy Spirit Leads us all. »

Jesus liberates disciples from any anxiety
The apostles who, on the eve of the death of the teacher Jesus, are anxious and sad and wonder how they will be able to continue and testify to the Kingdom of God, Jesus – recalled Pope Prevost – proclaims the gift of the Holy Spirit, with this wonderful promise:

« If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my father will love him, and we will come to him and make our apartment with him » (Verse 23).

Thus, Jesus delivers disciples from any anxiety and concern and can say to them:
« Do not disturb your hearts and no fear » (v. 27). If we remain in his love, he himself dwells in us, our lives become the temple of God, and this love illuminates us, makes us in our own way of thinking and in our choices, until it extends to others and radiates all the situations of our lives. «

God accompanies me with His presence and closeness
Behold, brothers and sisters-Pope Leoni XIV continued to explain the Bible readings of this 6th Easter Sunday-this dwelling of God in us is precisely the gift of the Holy Spirit, which takes us by the hand and makes us live, even in everyday life, the presence and proximity of God, making our home.

The Lord accompanies me with his soul
It is beautiful that, listening to our call, seeing the realities and the people we are entrusted with, the commitments we perform, our service in the church, each of us can confidently say:
« … even if I am fragile, God is not ashamed of my human nature, and even comes to dwell inside me. He accompanies me with his soul, illuminates me and makes me a means of his love for others, for society, for the world. »
Dear – invited the crowd followed by Pope Leoni XIV – on the basis of this promise, let us walk the joy of religion, to be the Holy Temple of God. Commit to bringing his love everywhere, remembering that every sister and every brother is the dwelling of God and that his presence is particularly revealed in the little ones, the poor and those who suffer, asking us to be attentive and compassionate Christians.

« Let us all trust the mediation of the Holy Mary. Through the work of the Holy Spirit it became » the sanctified dwelling of God.
