‘Tieman BBB Minister of Infrastructure, Pouw-Verweij BBB State Secretary for Care’

BBB nominates Robert Tieman, water board administrator of Delfland Water Board, as outgoing minister of Infrastructure and Water Management. Sources in The Hague confirm this NRC. Former MP Nicki Pouw-Verweij would become State Secretary for long-term and social care.

BBB leader Caroline van der Plas does not want to confirm these lectures. The candidate ministers, including VVD and NSC, must first go to outgoing Prime Minister Dick Schoof. As always, research into them is also being done. Only then are they sworn in by the king.

Authoritative

Robert Tieman (49) was previously a lobbyist for employers’ organization VNO-NCW, he was a manager at a chemical company and he worked at the Central Bureau for the Rhine and inland shipping. In his BBB party he is seen as authoritative, someone with knowledge and strategic insight. He may lead a ministry that was completely in the hands of the PVV. The Ministry also receives a State Secretary for Public Transport and the Environment, in The Hague, VVD member Bruno Bruins is called for that position. He walked around in the Lower House on Thursday.

Nicki Pouw-Verweij (34), who is a doctor, started her political career in The Hague at FvD as a member of the first member of parliament, she switched to Ja21 and became a member of parliament for that party. She switched again to BBB, just before the Lower House elections of 2023. She received place 9 on the list of candidates at BBB, the party got seven seats. She could then have become a member of the House of Representatives, when other BBBs joined the cabinet, but thanked for it. Since that time she has been working as a policy officer for the group of the House of Representatives.

Conservative

Pouw-Verweij is known as a conservative in the field of medical ethics, at the EO she told about her concerns about ‘Woke ideology’. She, she also said, came to the faith later, she had been baptized Catholic when she was 26 years old.

The Minister of Health will come from NSC. On Wednesday, the distribution of the cabinet posts that were released after the departure of the PVV from the Schoof cabinet. New people come for six of those posts, each party received one minister and one state secretary. A VVD member becomes Minister of Economic Affairs. The Ministry of Asylum and Migration is being cut, VVD, NSC and BBB each receive part of the policy area, on the proposal from Van der Plas.

In the coming days, other names of new, outgoing ministers will also be known.
