Large Estonian entrepreneur Tieit Vyakhi and a number of Estonian shareholders bought completely from their Russian partners – Gleb Katkov and Evgenia Malov – Port Sillamae, writes Err.

Tieit Vyakhi in an interview with ERR recalled that 22 years ago he, in collaboration with Gleb Katkov’s father, Andrei Katkov and other Russian millionaire Evgeny Malov, began to develop a port, the project of which was successful in all respects.

The Solder Port grew up in a powerful transit node for cargoes in the direction of the east-west and one of the links of the transport chain between Europe and America, while its owners never resorted to the help of any state. He invested in large funds in the development of the city of Sallamyae, infrastructure and social projects, the local labor market, the sphere of culture and sports.

“But then the war began, the volumes of transit fell five to six times, and the work of transit was gone perfectly. Russian partners did not want to buy the port, we did this, now we are one of its owners,” said Vyakhi.
