Babeziosis is extremely insidious.
It starts inconspicuously. Other times a lively and active dog suddenly falls into lethargy. It is sleepy, stops eating, barely lifts his head when he starts his name.
From an hour to an hour he is dwindling, he does not perceive thirst or hunger, and almost cannot stand on his feet, he will not revit his tail.
Pliers are often responsible for similar conditions in our animal pets. These parasites take their strength, disrupt the internal environment, and in some cases, if they do not stop vigorously and quickly, they can cause death to the animal.
Their season is already starting.
« Tick activity in Slovakia is mainly influenced by temperature. Pliers wake up at a temperature above seven to eight degrees, which means that in warmer years they can be active from February to November.
These tiny parasites were already involved where they did not occur a few years ago, for example in the northern districts of Slovakia.

The most common diseases transmitted by ticks in dogs in Europe are:
- Babeziosis,
- ehrlichiosis,
- Lyme borreliosis,
- anaplasmosis.
Each of these diseases attacks some blood system cells, but manifestations are not often typical, says the veterinarian. According to her, cats are less common in the cats, but they may be exceptionally infected with borreliosis and anaplasmosis.
Babeziosis – a parasitic disease that transmits the tick -meal drinker – is extremely insidious in dogs. The most widespread agent of dog babeziosis in Central Europe is a parasitic organism called Babesia Canis.
« Babesia enters the red blood cells and multiply there to destroy it. The reproduced babes attack other blood cells with geometric rows, » explains the veterinarian.
« The infected dog is anemic, which is associated with lethargy, weakness, shortness of breath, until the dog falls unconscious and then dies. He has no chance to survive without a veterinarian, » he adds.
In addition to the initial warning symptoms – lethargy or fever – abnormally dark urine, whose color could be compared to a wheel, is also added. The pale mucous membranes gradually yellow and the dog also has swollen lymph nodes.
Whether the animal survives depends mainly on the stage at which the disease begins to treat.
