The annual Kaltenberger Knight tournament is considered the largest knight tournament in the world. The medieval festival comes to around 120,000 visitors. The event takes place at Kaltenberg Castle, by car about 50 kilometers west of Munich located. The Kaltenberg knight tournament was launched in 1979 by Luitpold Prince of Bavaria, the great -grandson of the last Bavarian King Ludwig III. Every year spectacular shows are waiting for the visitors surrounded by medieval ambience. There are also musical interludes, medieval theater and numerous jugglers. In addition, you can see the traditional production of various craft products and of course also acquire them. Arrival to the Kaltenberg knight tournament 2025: How do you achieve the medieval festival?
Kaltenberg Castle is located in the district of Kaltenberg of the village of Geltendorf. The place is located about 50 kilometers west of Munich, in Upper Bavaria in the Landsberg Am Lech district. Due to the rather rural location, arrival by car is the easiest way to achieve the medieval festival. The nearest train station is located in Geltendorf and is connected to the S-Bahn network and regional traffic. During the Kaltenberg knight tournament, a paid line shuttle bus is offered, which runs between Kaltenberg and Geltendorf every 15 minutes.
