Three -lane A3: Radar controls come at the end of the year
At the end of March of this year, part of the giant construction site ended on the A3 motorway and the road was ended enlarged on three tracesthis in both directions between the Aire de Berchem and the Gasperich Kreuz. There are currently no fixed control systems as to whether the road users adhere to the rules – two occupants or more per vehicle. This will change in a few months.
From the end of the year, at the latest in early 2026, automatic systems will check this rule. Minister of Mobility Yuriko Backes (DP) announces this to a parliamentary question from Meris Sehovic. At the beginning it is a test phase and no fines are issued.
This closed season ends after a few months: Because the minister’s answer also says that the repressive phase begins in spring 2026. A precise time is still communicated. If you do not adhere to the new rule, you will face a fine of at least 74 euros.
Really reduce carpooling traces of traffic?
In addition to the three actual lanes of the motorway, the breakdown lane for buses was also released on the 2.1 -kilometer section between the Aire de Berchem and the Gaspericher Kreu. Taxis must not use this roadway.
However, it will take some time before the entire A3 is three lane to the French border. All work should not be completed until 2030.
