Three closed emergencies on April 25 and six over the weekend
Three emergencies will be closed on April 25 holiday, a number that rises to six on Saturday and Sunday. According to the information published in the Portal of the National Health Service (NHS), most are obstetrics and gynecology.
According to the urgent scales of the National Health Service, updated by hospitals, will be closed on Friday the urgencies of gynecology and obstetrics at Hospital Garcia de Orta, in Almada, Amadora-Sintra Hospital and Nossa Senhora do Rosário Hospital in Barreiro.
On Saturday, the end of the emergency of these specialties in the hospitals of Almada, Barreiro, Vila Franca de Xira and the District Hospital of Santarém (Obstetricia) is planned.
According to the scales, on Sunday, the urgencies of gynecology and obstetrics of Vila Franca de Xira and the district hospital of Santarém, and end those of the District Hospital of Caldas da Rainha and Santo André Hospital, Leiria.
During the three days, the Emergency Obstetrics and Gynecology Service of the São Bernardo Hospital in Setúbal will be conditioned, receiving only cases referred by the Urgent Patient Orientation Center (CODO) from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM).
According to the Lusa Agency, the pediatric emergencies of the Vila Franca de Xira Hospital and the Beatriz Ângelo Hospital in Loures will be closed over the weekend.
The pediatric urgency of Amadora-Sintra Hospital will also be referenced in the three days, between 00h00 and 08h00 and between 20h00 and midnight, receiving only cases of internal or referenced urgency by INEM or the SNS 24 line.
The scales available on the SNS portal also indicate that about 130 emergency services will be open across the country during the extended weekend, which are joined by more than 30 gynecology and obstetrics that will be working,
However, these are within the pilot project, which implies a prior contact of users with the SNS 24 line.
The embarrassment of emergency services is mainly due to the lack of medical experts to ensure scales, a situation that is more frequent in vacation periods, such as summer and end of the year, and long weekends.
