In Scotland, three Belgian soldiers were injured during an exercise with an anti -tank weapon. Two of them are seriously injured, Minister of Defense Theo Francken (N-VA) confirms. A dozen others suffered hearing damage.

« The incident occurred during a planned exercise, » said Defense. « An investigation has started to find out the exact circumstances. »

The three soldiers first received care and were then taken to a hospital on site.

Two have already been able to speak with their families. One of them will have surgery in Scotland and then repatriated to Belgium.

A dozen other soldiers suffered hearing damage, Defense says on Monday evening in an update.

Red Condor is part of the operational preparation of the 3rd Battalion Parachutists and is tailored to their certification of a Special Operations Land Task Group (SOLTG), according to Defense.

In a video message on the Platform X, Minister of Defense Theo Francken (N-VA) spoke about « sad news » and the soldiers and their families wished strength.

« Unfortunately, sad news: three paras from Tielen were injured, » says Defense Minister Theo Francken (N-VA). « They were practicing and something missed out, the number was injured. We do everything to train our staff well and to train well and to protect them as much as possible, but very sometimes things go wrong. A lot of strength to our men and the family.
