Thousands protest in Slovakia against Ficos Moscow trip-Diepresse.com
Premier Robert Fico was the only EU head of government in Putin’s World War II. He defended his trip to Moscow on Facebook.
Several thousand people in Bratislava and several other cities in Slovakia have against Prime Minister Robert Fico demonstrates. The current occasion of the rallies was Fico’s trip to Moscow on the Russian World War II. The Slovake visited the event as the only one EU-Head. The left -wing national prime minister is repeatedly criticized for his Russia -friendly attitude.
The biggest protest took place in the capital Bratislava. « May 9th is the day of Europe. But Robert Fico spends it alongside a war criminal, » said a protest call. This meant Russia’s president Vladimir Putin.

Fico defended trip on Facebook
Also the EU foreign commissioner Kaja Kallas criticized Fico’s Moscow trip sharply. The Slovak news agency TASR Quoted them with the words: « Everyone who supports freedom, independence and European values should be in Ukraine today, not in Moscow. » Fico is on the wrong side.
The Slovak Prime Minister himself defended his journey in Facebook messages to his followers. With his journey, he yields the respect that had died from the Nazi rule for the liberation of Slovakia. He rejects that « a new iron curtain » is being built in Europe. (APA/dpa)
