Thousands participate in a peaceful procession in Bucharest in support of European values

On Europe Day (May 9), a peaceful procession in support of European values ​​is also being held at this hour in Bucharest. Between three and five thousand people participate in the demonstration, which began at 6 pm local (and Bulgarian) time from the area between the Bucharest Universigger and the building of the Romanian National Theater, and later transferred to Victoria Square in front of the government building.

Some people chant « Victory for Europe », « We want Europe, not a dictatorship », « Nikushor », others carry balloons with the symbol of the European Union, waving the flags of Romania, the European Union and NATO and hold posters with the inscriptions « We will not leave », « we will remain ». It is not far away, « We belong to Europe », « Diaspora, Romania is yours too ». There are also quotes from famous politicians such as Vaclav Havel – « Truth and love will prevail over lies and hatred. »

A group of an organization called the Expert Forum, which watches the election, also joined the peaceful procession.

« We have partners in most cities in the country. We observe not only on the day of the election, but for a much longer period. We have been following the whole process, from the registration of the candidates, and then the funding of the campaign. And on the day of the election we have observers in sections.
