Thousands demonstrate in the USA against Trump and Musk

In the USA have many thousands of people nationwide against the politics of President Donald Trump protested. In the US capital Washington alone, thousands of demonstrators gathered on the Washington Monument near the White House. Among other things, they asked on posters to defend the constitution, to remove Trump of the Office and not to feel the social system. On others it said: « Hands away from democracy » or « Stop the coup ».

Different organizations had called for more than 1000 meetings – larger and smaller ones – in all US states. They had estimated in advance that there could be more than 250,000 participants nationwide. Initially, in view of the large number of events, there were no reliable information on the participants as a whole.

In New York, too, despite the drizzle, thousands demonstrated against Trump and his tight consultant Elon Musk, the multimillionaire and chief of the E-Auto company Tesla. In the Bryant Park, they kept signs in height with inscriptions such as « pulls Elon the connector » or: « I can only write this here because there was a ministry of education ». There were also larger protests in other cities – for example in Atlanta, Boston, Miami or Charlotte.

Protests in the USA: Resistance to Trump’s radical course

Trump has started to radically rebuild the state apparatus since taking office with the help of Musks, firing federal employees on a large scale and completely smashing several authorities, including the Ministry of Education. He made many highly controversial decisions and advances, both domestic and foreign policy, sensation and outrage. Democrats and experts see his course as a great danger to democracy.

There were also protests beyond the United States: hundreds of people took to the streets in the British capital London to demonstrate against Trump and his government – including a number of Americans who live in Great Britain. (dpa)
