-Gladsaxe is Denmark's 5th largest commercial municipality and every day about 40,000 employees will be in and out of Gladsaxe. The large amount of traffic provides congestion – and we look into a future where there are more jobs and more citizens in Gladsaxe and thus even more traffic. Among other things, we would like to encourage more people to consider walking, taking the bike, taking public transport or driving together if they have the opportunity. It is good for the climate, for our health and provides better space on the roads to those who cannot do without the car in everyday life. Therefore, I hope that the campaign will be welcomed and that it can inspire more people to choose to transport themselves sustainably, says Municipal Director Ulrich Schmidt-Hansen, in one press release.
Changing habits requires recognition and attention
– It's not easy for us to change habits. We know from behavioral research that the best way to make us change habits is that we are seen and recognized for the good habits and the good choices we make. That is why we have launched this campaign where we pay tribute to those who meet a sustainable transport selected. When we need to change habits and create a greener transport culture, it is crucial that we all talk about it both in formal and informal contexts and that someone is at the forefront – even when it requires a little extra clothing, time or planning. It has been found that even a few employees in a workplace or educational institution can help change the behavior of the many – and this also applies in the private contexts, says business manager and head of Gladsaxe Business City, Karen Brosbøl Wulf.
The tribute campaign is an element of a greater effort where work is being done to create a greener transport culture both at the companies, citizens, educational institutions and with the municipality's employees.
