The Sand Sculpture Festival in Middelkerke will not take place this year. The organization announced this on Friday. The festival is taking a break this year and will return to a new location next year.

After four editions in Middelkerke, the Sand Sculpture Festival takes a one -year break. So this year there is no festival in the coastal municipality. The organization wants to take the time to give the festival a new interpretation and return to a new location in 2026.
« We experienced four very nice events in Middelkerke, » says project leader Peter Monbailleu. « The creation of sand events remains one of the most beautiful projects that are available. The public is still enjoying. We are not calling for even more experience and fun in the wind and are already working to welcome and surprise the audience at a new location next year. »
Last year the edition of the Sand Culture Festival was still revealing the theme ‘The world in Zand’. The year before, the theme was fairy tales. Every year the event attracts up to 100,000 spectators. Where the next sand sculpture festival will take place will be announced later.
