This year, 10 new foreign film projects / day will be created in Latvia
« Foreign films in Latvia are a significant contribution to the development of creative industries. This approach not only strengthens Latvia’s position in the international cinema market, but also promotes the growth and innovation of local companies, making the country an attractive destination. The amount of investments in the implementation of ten film projects will reach EUR 38.6 million, while the state co -financing is estimated at EUR 4.93 million. It is planned to invest 2.5 million euros for the implementation of the great measures, of which 690 thousand euros will be state support.
Foreign film competition received 14 projects, of which 10 projects from seven countries meet the criteria: Denmark, France, Germany (2), Estonia (3), Monaco. Polish, UK.
The amount of national co -financing for film projects ranges from 75 thousand to 1 million euros.
Three projects were submitted to the great program, one of which was withdrawn. The other two qualified for support.
The total funding for the Foreign Film Recruitment Competition for the next three years is EUR 15.2 million and the great program for the program is EUR 8.4 million. Each foreign film project can receive co -financing up to 30% of the eligible costs.
So far, LIDA has granted co -financing for 24 film projects, a total of EUR 5.28 million. As part of the supported projects, the state has already paid EUR 5.67 million to the state, creating a fiscal positive impact.
Movies made in Latvia have also made international success. This year, the Cannes Film Festival Competition Program includes two films made in Latvia that have been co -financed by the state: Sergey Loznica Two prosecutors and Cyril Serebrennikova Disappearance.
The LIAA, together with industry professionals, represents the Latvian film industry in Berlin and Cannes film festivals every year, as well as organizes industry media visits and other activities to promote the recognition of Latvia as a film.
