The photo, officially entitled « Terror of War », but better known as « Napalm Girl », is one of the most famous images of the Vietnam war. It moved public opinion around the world.
The authorship of the famous photography was questioned in the documentary film « The Stringer », which premiered in January at the Sundance festival. According to the authors of the document, the photo, which presents the naked nine -year -old Kim Phuc Phan Thhi escaping from the attack using Napalm to the village of Trang Bang, was performed by Nguyen thanh Nghe. A man who was the driver of the NBC station wagon at that time. He was to sell a photo of the AP agency as a freelancer, and the authorship was assigned Nick Ut, who was then an AP employee.

As a result of a two -year investigation, which included, among others Forensic analysis and reports of over 50 people, filmmakers decided that Nick Ut could not be located that day in the place from which the photo was taken.
AP stated that « it was possible » that the photo was taken by UT, and no evidence was found that Nguyen took it. The agency added that it was not possible to eventually prove who the author of the photograph, due to the lack of key evidence, restrictions on technology and the death of several key people.
Both UT and Nguyen say they are the authors of the photo « Napalm Girl ».
The heroine of the photo, 62-year-old Kim Phuc Phan Thhi, has long claims that she does not remember the moment when photography was taken.
