This is how the debate on the halving initiative is running

« 200 francs are enough »

Badran shows Rutz’s tongue: the debate about the halving initiative for the SRG is running in the National Council

Are 200 francs enough? The National Council starts a monster discussion-and does not go very far.

Jacqueline Badran (SP) provokes Gregor Rutz (SVP) – he takes it calmly.

SVP describes the behavior of Badrans as inconsistent and unworthy

Rutz criticized that the opponents of the initiative refused to discuss the crucial question: What should the SRG do and what not? The activities of the radio in the online area went far too far. Initiator Thomas Matter (SVP) added that the SRG was financially and personally inflated. With the 200 Franconian initiative, she will be attributed to a reasonable measure.

Jacqueline Badran (SP) looked churned. She went up and down in the National Council Hall, went to the supporting speaker, put several long interim questions and stretched out the tongue to Gregor Rutz (SVP). He indifferently did it. Mauro Tuena (SVP) found, however, that Badran’s behavior was incorrect and a member of the parliament was unworthy. Badran then left the hall long before the debate.

How big would the losses be for the SRG if the voters approach the halving initiative? The media tax would decrease from currently CHF 335 to CHF 200. This is not a halving. However, the SRG emphasizes that the template stipulates that all companies are released from the levy. In addition, the broadcasting would have to expect greatly falling advertising revenue because the program lost in an attractiveness.

The SRG expects the company’s yield from around CHF 1.5 billion to CHF 750 million per year. According to the SRG, the half -time initiative therefore meets its name.

During the discussion about the halving initiative, it was calmer in parliament than in other debates. However, the rows in the hall were increasingly emptied – until National Council President Maja Riniker (FDP) broke off the session after two and a half hours.
