We noticed Batman during the second day of the blockade of the academic community, which in front of the building Government of Serbiaat the corner of Kneza Miloš and Nemanjina Street, protests against the collapse of the University.

The so-called « faculty at the intersection », with the set stands of the faculties and student choirs, gathers people of all generations – from students and professors, to artists and other professions, so long-longging, so long that only some cyclists or ambulance can pass.

They remain there until the requirements meet.

And why is Batman on protests?

Remind, the requirements of the academic community include: Disbanding the working group for the development of the new Law on Higher Education and Opening of Public, Inclusive Discussion; abolition of illegal changes in the Regulation on the standards of work of the University and rehabilitation of their consequences; as well as the adoption of budget quotas for college enrollment – no later than the end of June.

Professor Vladimir Mihić from the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad came to Belgrade to support the initiative of the « Rebel University », primarily: abolition of the Regulation, the announcement of the competition and everything necessary in order to protect students for the next school year.

« I hope we will be here until these things resolved – more precisely, while the government does not return the university to people who are practically abdominal students, » Mihic considers it at the moment.

Asked on how the current socio-political moment in Serbia and there is hope that it will be better, Mihić – who teaches « political psychology » – points to the basic concepts in the field of authoritarian and totalitarian societies:

« This is a terminal phase of a single-to-totalitarian regime – as long as it seems to be powerful. When it is unstoppable. The question is whether it is a few months or more, but we are on a good way to solve this regime and system, and that Let’s start something new, « Mihic says.

About the number and atmosphere of the protest adds that it is all day and multi-day blockages – which means that it is not necessary to be thousands of people in front of the government at all times.

« This is a marathon, not a sprint. It’s not all together to get together. The fight is always a bit more critical, and I personally would like to block the government – but, for starters, and this is enough, » the Novi Sad professor expires.

Professor Oliver Tušković from the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade, a commentary to comment Government of a beautiful atmosphere, says it can sound contradictory:

« The Belgrade University is located among the 2% of the world’s best lists, if this Regulation remains in effect, we will not participate in scientific projects – international or state. The status of the Belgrade University will be destroyed overnight, » the professor concludes.

Another topic of concern and professors and students – but also the general public – is the issue of entrance exams.

« The entrance examination is not due to the Ministry of Education, and we are to organize the Ministry, which does not allow the state to finance the University, it literally means that it refers to funded education in this state, » says Tešković He adds: « I repeat the entire statement all day: ‘The most dangerous are people who prevent enlightenment and education of one people. Such, that they can – the sun would extinguish.' »
