« This could be more effective »

Drawings for an estimated new prison for Stóra-Hraun look good, but more importantly, how the indoor operations will be organized. It would be wise to establish treatment systems within the prison walls, which offered both dehydration and treatment.

This is among the things that Daniel Rafn Guðmundsson, guest of Dags Mbl.is, says in discussions on the country’s prison affairs.

« Everyone is willing to help you when you are there, if you show color and you want to change, » says Daniel. What is missing is a treatment system inside the prison, « that just starts with dehydration and so would be just a great treatment inside the prison ».

At Litla-Hraun there is a relatively new treatment course and is one of the positions within the prisons as Daniel and others from the organization Teen Challenge Take a religious message and peer education.

« There is a good thing to do, but you may think it could be more effective. It should just be something that catches these individuals and it’s just treatment and detoxification and stuff. It also has to be something personally focused, there is nothing the same that applies to everyone, » says Daniel.

If people are going to improve, come out and become active in society then it would also be much better that they have been trained in something they were interested in doing instead of getting rid of and starting to work on something that they think are dog -boring and get little money.

« Then it is a lot more temptation to go back into something they know, in the hope that this time will work this time. »
