This chili con carne is so delicious that a Mexican will lift his sombrero in pure enthusiasm
In Mexico you make Chili Con Carne in a way that both warms the soul and trigger the taste buds. It simply tastes heavenly.
If there is anything the Mexicans master, then it is to make spicy and tasteful casseroles.
Chili con carne is loved worldwide – and not without reason. It is both easy to make, filled with proteins and has a flavor that just gets better the next day. But how do you really make a real Mexican chili con carne? Is the court healthy? And is there anyone who actually can’t stand it?
Recipe for Real Chili Con Carne
What do we need?

500 g of minced beef

1 large onion
-
2 cloves of garlic
-
1 red chili (or more if you dare)

1 tsp steady cumin

1 tsp smoked paprika
-
1 can of chopped tomatoes
-
1 can of kidney beans
-
1 tablespoon tomato puree
-
1 dl beef broth
-
Salt and pepper
-
Oil for frying

(Possibly a little dark chocolate to round off the taste – it’s a Mexican trick!)
How to do:

Chop onions, garlic and chili finely. Sweat them in oil in a saucepan until the onions are soft.

Add beef and brown it well.

Stir in tomato puree, cumin and paprika.

Add chopped tomatoes, beef broth and kidney beans.

Let it all simmer under lid for a minimum of 30 minutes – preferably longer.

Taste with salt, pepper – and possibly a little dark chocolate for depth.
Serve with rice, tortilla chips or a spoonful of cream fraiche on top.
Is chili con carne healthy?
Yes, in moderate quantity it can be a healthy and nutritious right. Beef contains protein and iron, the beans are full of fibers and plant -based proteins, and the spices have anti -inflammatory properties.
But as with everything else – it’s about balance. If you choose lean meat and do not exaggerate the amount of oil and salt, it is an excellent dish in everyday life.
Who should be careful with chili con carne?
Some people may respond to strong food, especially if they have delicate stomachs or ulcers. If you are sensitive to chili or strong spices, turn down the chilim amount – the dish still tastes great.
In addition: Pay attention to the beans if you have sensitive digestion – they can give air in the stomach. But most people can easily enjoy a good portion of chili con carne without any problems.
