Thirty -in -thirty risks 15 years in prison in serious matter of sexual abuse: « Three years for each child » (Harelbeke)

There was a short time on the bench for the civil parties on Tuesday in the correctional court of Kortrijk. The (plus) parents of five young children were all present for the trial against the 33-year-old KD from Harelbeke. He is accused of rape and assault of, among other things, his own nephew, Petekind and children of a friendly couple.

For two of the alleged victims, the man denies everything, for the others he minimized the facts. According to KD, rape had never been the case, although the judge noted that the children’s statements on this point deviated from that of KD himself. « While they talked about actions they would never know at their age, » said the judge.

The parents of the victims therefore accused KD a total lack of debt insight. « I have already seen many things, but even my hair stood upright when I read his statements, » said one of the victims.

« He became ‘in love’ with my client when she was barely 4 years old and even stated that she also longed for the sexual acts he set. Sir was 100 percent sure he hadn’t hurt anyone. He abused his position to rap a child of barely 4 years old. »

To his nephew, also his godchild, the man told him that he should certainly not tell his parents or that they would be very angry. « He is still afraid because he told his secret, » said a boy’s parent. « When your own sister wanted to write off you as Peter, I still stopped her. Now we get a knife. »

Dangerous attitude

Psychological research showed that KD has a pedophile disorder with a high risk of recidivism. In 2010 he was already convicted of sex offenses on his sister and the possession of child pornography. Then his risk was still lowly estimated and the man did not get a punishment. He only had to be guided.

KD’s lawyer said he understood that claim. « My client must be punished, but also needs guidance for both his serious sexual problems and his alcohol problem. Although his drinking behavior cannot be an explanation for the facts, there is an underlying problem. My client himself was abused in his youth and should therefore know what the impact is. »

KD himself apologized but kept his innocence standing in two victims.
