Thirty -country artists / Diena will compete for the prestigious Martinson Prize of the Fifth Latvian Ceramic Biennale
International competition exhibition The Martinson Prize is the central event of the Latvian Ceramic Biennale and one of the most important ceramic art events in Europe. For the exhibition The Martinson Prize 2025 This year, 941 work has been applied for by 69 countries. An international jury of experts has selected 80 artwork from 30 countries to participate in the exhibition, including 23 works from Latvian artists.
On the eve of the opening of the exhibition, the jury will decide on a prize distribution on the eve of the exhibition. The Biennale Prize Fund, from which the winners of the exhibition are awarded the awards in the National and International Category, in 2025 is EUR 20,000.
The Fifth Martinson Prize Jury was the curator of the Latvian Ceramic Biennale, artist Aivars Baranovskis (Latvia), art historian, Claudia Kazally, director of the Faenz Museum of Ceramic (Claudia Casali, Italy), independent curator and researcher Kristine Michael (Kristine MichaelIndia), curator of the Kjongi Museum of Contemporary Ceramic Art Lidzi Choi (Leji Choi, South Korea) and artist, lecturer of the E. Geperts Academy of Arts, Veronica Surma, organizer of the ICT organizer of the Polish International Ceramic Sculpture Triennial (Weronica Surma, Poland).

The Latvian Ceramic Biennale is one of the most important ceramic media events in Europe with impressive scope and quality. It is organized by the Latvian Center for Contemporary Ceramics in cooperation with the Rothko Museum. The Biennial format is at the same time documenting and innovative, providing an exhibit platform for the achievements of previous years in ceramic media in the form of groups and solo exhibitions and directed to artists in a new creative search.

With this motto in August and September 2025 at the Rothko Museum and other cultural sites in Daugavpils, Liepaja and Cesis, the Biennale program will host a number of art exhibitions and other cultural events for art gourmets.
