They took our face again. Hungarians send a man to space again

It has been 44 years old today since Dumitru Prunariu’s Started spatial adventure aboard the Souz 40 ship.

Romania has a space agency, but it is far from repeating the experience of Cosmonaut Prunariu. Not the same can be said about Hungarians.

In just two weeks, on May 29, it is scheduled to launch the Axiom4 mission in which a Hungarian astronaut, an Polish, an Indian and an American will take part. The four should remain docking on ISS station for about 14 days.

Axiom mission 4

The Ax-4 mission will « make the return » to human space flights for India, Poland and Hungary, being the first flight sponsored by the government of each nation in over 40 years. Although AX-4 marks the second human space flight mission in the history of these countries, it will be the first time that all three nations will carry out a mission on board the international space station. This historical mission emphasizes how Axiom Space redefines the path to the low orbit of the Earth and promotes global national space programs.

Tibor Kapu, the second Hungarian who reaches space

« After 45 years, a Hungarian goes again into space, which strengthens our position in the international space in the field of space exploration, » said Hungarian astronaut.

He said that Bertalan Farkas (the first Cosmonaut Hungar) gave him many good advice and also revealed that, besides the Hungarian flag and some Hungarian culinary specialties, he will also travel with an object that accompanied Bertalan in space.

The Hungarian program aims to revitalize the internal space sector and create remarkable career opportunities in the country, contributing to the further development of the space sector. Another goal is to arouse interest in spatial science among Hungarians, especially young generations, added Hungarian astronaut.
