They stole them from the bank account 1,000,000 lei
Amazing case. A man from Botoșani municipality notified, by call 112, that 1,000,000 lei were stolen from the bank account. The representatives of the County Police Inspectorate (IPJ) Botosani announced on Wednesday that, following the police checks, it turned out that the man was the victim of deception offenses, illegal access to a computer system and carrying out financial operations.
« The victim was contacted by telephone by a man who recommended as a representative of the Transylvania Bank and asked if several transactions were authorized to online platforms. It was told that from his card would have made unauthorized payments of 5,000 lei, to a foreign country.
The next day, it was called again, from a number that seemed to belong to the Transylvania Bank, most likely created by the ‘Spoofing’ method. This time, the alleged employee told him that his banking data would have been compromised by an employee’s employee and that it is necessary to apply ‘security measures’. Under this pretext, the victim was convinced to install several Remote-Control type applications on the phone, which allowed the offender to access the phone and authorize a payment of 1,000,000 lei to a Revolution account.
At the time of the transaction, the victim was contacted by the real representatives of the bank, but the author, still on appeal with the victim, told him not to answer, claiming that this is an automatic robot. The telephone call with the author lasted about three hours and only after this time the victim realized that he was deceived.
