Experts have decided on innovative treatment – a procedure that was used for the first time in Slovakia with such a disease.

Unique that worked

The boy already innate error at an early age, which prevented the proper outflow of urine, damaged the bladder and kidneys.

« Repeated inflammations are dangerous because they lead to kidney damage, which also happened in our patient. He had a chronic kidney disease at the penultimate stage. Therefore, he was considered the last option, namely the removal of the kidney, » tells the doctor about the case.

There were few options in standard treatment. Since the patient has found significant pathological changes in the intestinal microbiome (high representation of bacteria that cause kidney inflammation), doctors have opted for an unconventional but promising procedure: they gave him experimental treatment – faecal microbial transplantation.
