They are installing new historical boards in Koper

Historical boards, installed under the official bilingual inscriptions of Koper markets and streets, were the subject of the dispute between the Inspectorate for Culture and the Media and the Municipality of Koper, saying that the Italian language dominated the Slovenian language. Aliens who would come to the city, however, could confuse which country they are in. According to the decision of the inspectorate that the boards should be removed, the municipality of Koper turned against the wall. The inscriptions relate to Venetian history
“We have analyzed similar cases at European level in detail, such as Catalonia and the Netherlands. The boards retained the golden appearance, in the left corner they have a coat of arms of Koper, and in the right, a logo reminiscent of a praetor palace with an attribution City History – Storia Cittadin.

Today they will install 37 historical tables, and 13 new ones, for which all permits have been obtained, on Monday. Will they also install an inscription at the monastery of St. Ana, home to the Franciscan patriarch and where the story of the removal of the tables in Koper actually began? “Not, given that they have always doubted the justification of historical names and that they gave the reason for the complication. The Koper Municipal Commission for Toponomastic will continue their efforts to find systemic solutions that will enable individual border places, where more nations and cultures coexist, that they are considered a specialty under the public language law.
