These drivers will be hit for the next 4 months
« 25 years of traffic has left its mark and the joint is replaced so that we can maintain a safe and flexible connection. We do everything we can to limit the interruptions in traffic as little as possible, » says Johan Nord, constituted director of construction on the Øresund Bridge, in a press release.
The road work takes place from March 9 to April 17 – and from April 22 to June 9 after a break at Easter. The joint goes across the entire bridge and will be replaced in sections to keep the bridge open during the extensive maintenance work.
« All constructions are affected by temperature changes, and so are the bridge. It expands in the summer season and contracts in winter. To handle these movements and maintain safety, these joints are needed, » says Johan Nord.
The work is done at the transition between Peberholm and the bridge. A lane in each direction will therefore always be open.
« To ensure that traffic flows as smoothly as possible, we recommend that all customers follow the braid rules so that the lanes are utilized maximum to the road work. We will closely monitor the impact of traffic and guide customers at the times when the impact on traffic is greatest and at least, » says Jopas Wulff, head of the traffic center at Øresund Bron.
