Lise from Destelbergen, East Flanders: “From now on we will go to the supermarket for eggs”

Eggs from Destelbergen:24.00 Microgram/kilo

For comparison:Threshold value:1,7 Microgram/kilo

Eggs from supermarket:0.2 microgram/kilo

“Our son of almost 5 would like to eat an egg every day from his chickens that he received for his 4th birthday, but he will from now on get it out of the supermarket. Before I knew the results of the analysis, I found the recommendation of a maximum of two eggs a week of own chickens actually nonsense. Panic sowing, my chickens I thought and then I missed it. I will not exclude the protein, in Meringues or Chocomousse and Chickaletta: we will continue to spoil them, because they are part of our households, eggs or not. ”

Stephane from Wemmel, Flemish Brabant: « Our chickens are still so young? Punishment »

Eggs from Wemmel:34.00 Microgram/kilo

« Twenty times more PFAS than the norm, in our eggs? I am shocked. We live in agricultural area, there has never been anything other than that. You sometimes hear that it was extinguished with PFAS foam, but we have never had an indication of it. For me this is really incomprehensible. One of the chickens is only one year in their eggs. »

« Of course we are going to adjust. We will no longer be able to eat those eggs – which my girlfriend, daughter and I do. We will also have a fruit tree and berry bush, and the start of a vegetable garden … We will have to think if we will also eat anything else. »

Karin from Borgerhout, Antwerp: “We live quite far from the 3M factory »

Eggs from Borgerhout: 11.00 Microgram/kilo

« A few years ago I underwent a blood test, which showed that I actually had too much PFAS in the blood. Since then I have decided not to eat eggs anymore. But my husband and children have continued to eat those eggs. We are definitely not going to do that anymore. Unfortunately, because we will not be able to do anything with that. Unfortunately, we will unfortunately be able to do anything with that. »

« We indeed live in that no-regretry zone of 3M, it now appears. I think it is strange that that is not very clearly communicated. We feel that we live relatively far from that factory. Perhaps an information campaign from the government can help with this. »

Milan from Genk, Limburg: « We gave the most eggs to our neighbors »

Eggs from Genk: 9.70 Microgram/kilo

« We have never bought our chickens for the eggs. I am afraid of birds and wish my son does not have that feeling. So I wanted to bring him into contact with chickens from an early age. That is why we actually have decorative chickens and not really a laying chicken. Of course we have eggs from those animals and most of us we will probably have to stop now. »

“Occasionally we make pancakes with our own eggs, or a mirrory. To be honest, I find it difficult to properly estimate the risk of that PFAS in food. If we were to hear that it is super-damaged, we will of course stop immediately. But now it will stay a bit in between. We are now of course a lot of account.”

Robert from Ingelmunster, West Flanders: « I am 78 years old, will this make the difference? »

Eggs from Ingelmunster: 7.70 Microgram/kilo

« I’m not going to let it go to eat my eggs. I eat about 3 to 4 a week: I think that will be better than expected. We try to eat healthy, with many herbs from our garden. We also grow our own tomatoes. I am 78 years old, am I going to die from that PFAS? »

« There is pollution everywhere nowadays. Look: we live in an agricultural area, it is not at all that there would be industry in the area here. I’m not going to leave my sleep here. »
