These cars will not be able to obtain a roadworthiness test: will innocent people suffer?

It is estimated that about every fifth older than ten years of car may be with a mileage.

As early as July 8, after the roadworthiness test is discovered that your car with facing mileage is unable to participate in traffic. This will be considered a serious shortage of the car.

A spokesman for the Lithuanian Transport Safety Association asserts that it should be checked before buying its mileage during the last road inspection, and if you did not do it anyway:

« First of all, the buyer should contact the seller and ask why this happens. He may express a certain claim for damage, » advised Simonas Mažionis, a spokesman for the Lithuanian Transport Safety Association.

« Imagine what a complex process is? This will probably require the intervention of the legal instance. And if those people move abroad, what to do then? » Asked Matas Buzelis, a car market expert.

Another option, according to the Transport Safety Association, appeals to authorized services.

« The actual mileage setting can be done by connecting to the internal diagnostic system of the car, checking the information stored in the control units and monitoring whether they are visible on the dashboard, » explained S. Mažionis.

However, Mr Buzel is cutting down that it is unlikely that many authorized services will be determined to go and change the mileage of the car.

« We were interested in at least with official authorized representatives, they don’t intend to do so because people may lose their licenses because of such actions. Representative office can see it as risky work, » the car market expert emphasized.

As a result, according to Mr Buzel, he will rub his hands with the illegally rotating goldsmiths.

« I see the only case that people will start looking for such a service on the black market, » the expert assured.

For a couple of years, the mileage has been treated as a minor disadvantage when checking the car at the technical inspection service. According to the Association of Technical Inspection Companies, this is already fruitful.

« If the statistics of 2022 were nearly 7,000 cars with fake mileage, last year there were approximately 2.5 thousand people starting to pay attention, check the history of the car and this is the only good news, » said Renald Gabartas, head of the Lithuanian Association of Technical Inspection Companies.

The main problem is that this procedure applies only to cars registered in Lithuania. The mileage is followed only from the first date of the inspection.

« The big problem is among the cars wears from Europe, because if a car with a valid maintenance of a particular European country is coming, it may travel directly to the Regitra and do not need any additional costs and procedures to perform Lithuanian roadworthiness tests, » said R. Gabartas.

However, it is known that the mileage is twisted abroad these days, so that even the most serious services do not detect.

« Whoever drives a lot, it installs special control units that simply either stop the mileage or distribute from 2, out of 3, 4 by 4th.

The mileage is also damaged by the reliability of the car. It becomes unclear when the car needs to be replaced, for example, a distribution belt or grease in a gearbox. Failure to do such a service work can later cost thousands.
