There will be no 17 maternity wards in the country if 30 children / day are born per day

Apple said that the number of newborns would have to make decisions that have not been before. As the number of children decreases, every child and also an adult is becoming increasingly important for Latvia.

Apple explained that the decline in population has a significant impact on the accessibility of human capital, both in the country and in the health sector. At a recent conference in Riga, it has been concluded that once talked about attracting people from abroad, then now the most important thing is to reckon and not lose the people who are in the country. Many people may have to work longer and their state of health will depend on the country’s development.

Also, apple drew attention to the readiness of various crises, reducing risks. « From a systemic point of view, it is important to understand that crises will be – bigger or smaller, sooner or later. It is important for the amount of human crisis to help with the crisis, » said the chairman of the Board of BKUS. He recalled that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the power of the health system, how much it is capable of assisting citizens, influenced national decisions on how strictly restricting the economy. It is important to strengthen the persistence of the health system from both the infrastructure and the human resources.

Apple emphasized that in the case of the crisis, the people of Latvia are among the most sick among the citizens of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the European Union.

Vladislava Marane, Director of the International Innovative Pharmaceutical Companies Association, emphasized that in determining the priority of health care in the country, this is the basis for national security, resistance, economic growth and demographics. Marane admitted that Latvian patients are one of the last places in the availability of medication. Of the 173 new drugs registered in the last four years, only 31 are available in Latvia.

Baiba Ziemele, Head of the Latvian Patient Organizations Network, said that funding for the health care sector was not considered to be expenses, but an contribution to the health and well -being of the population. Unfortunately, Latvian patients have to regularly deal with the accessibility of limited services, which are determined by the national quotas, and patients’ co -payments in Latvia are among the highest in Europe. Patients are increasingly facing the inaccessibility of medication, and the most important problems in health care from the patient’s point of view were North.

Rudolf Wilde, Member of the Board of the New Medical Association, pointed to problems in planning the health care system, as well as the takeover of complex and expensive GPs. He explained that the medical institutions are currently applying for the Ministry of Health (MoE) the required number of specialists, but there is no broader vision at national level and a specific criterion, how much and what specialists in a region will be needed in the future.

Aiga Balode, Deputy State Secretary for Digitization and Change Management, emphasized that health care should be human -centered, the patient should be provided in a timely manner and exactly how the patient needs, and the assistance should be obtained in a safe environment.

Balode promised that the Latvian Digital Center would ensure that the patient can register in the same place and receive a service in a timely manner, as 10-15% of patients who have applied for the service currently do not appear. She acknowledged that the MoE should work to adjust information technology solutions, artificial intelligence and human resources to allow patients to receive quality healthcare.

As reported, the discussion « Life Price: How much is the Health Funding Gap? », Which discussed how health care will be affected by national decisions, if no additional funding was granted, was organized by a consulting company Powerhouse Latvia and the International Association of Innovative Pharmaceutical Companies.

Powerhouse Latvia belongs to Martins Vargulis and Mārtiņš Daugulis in equal parts, while the International Association of Innovative Pharmaceutical Companies combines the World Medicinal Medicines Representation in Latvia, for example, members include Astrazeneca, Bayer, Johnson & Johnson.
