This large -scale exhibition, which for the first time in Northern Europe will exhibit dozens of works from the Florence -famous Ufici Gallery collection, is a unique event in the European Cultural Space. It will be on display for five months – from July 5 to November 30.

In the exhibition Italian Light: From Forts to Morandi A large part of Florence’s famous Ufici galleries collection will be exhibited – 74 masterpieces from the basic and collection of Piti Castle Modern Art Gallery.

The exhibit will reflect Italy’s most important currents of art during the period from the country’s development in 1861 to the first decades of the 20th century – including symbolism, expressionism, futurism, neoclassical and other directions.

The exhibition is also special in that the outstanding works of Latvian artists from the paintings of Italian artists will be exhibited from the collection of Latvian artists from the collection of the Latvian National Museum of Art. In this way, the masterpieces of Italian craftsmen will form a dialogue with the heritage of Latvia in the late 19th century and classical modernism, one of the highest recognized Latvian cultural values.

At the exhibition of Latvia Italian Light: From Forts to Morandi The paintings created by Karl Hun, Julius Feders, Wilhelm Purvītis, Janis Rozentāls, Johann Walter, Joseph Groswald, Jacob Kazak, Voldemārs Matvejs, Peter Krastins, Theodors Krastins, Theodors Zaļkalns, Gustavs Šķilter, Niklāvs Strunis, Niklāvs Strunis

The Ufici Gallery Collection Exhibition will be represented by many bright Italian artists, including Giovanni’s forces, Telemako Sinjorins, Silvestro Lega, Federico Zandomenegi, Giovanni Boldini, Medardo Rosso, Francesco Joli, George, George Dragon, Gin Severin, George de Kirico, Elizabeth Chaplin, Aldo Carp, Gvido Marusigs, Leonardo Dudrevils, Carlo Karras and George Morand. As well as Non Mori, Alberto Salieti and Filipo Marfori-Savini artwork from the collection of the Latvian National Museum of Art.

The exhibit will be accompanied by a wide program of events, and in cooperation with the Ufici galleries, the leading Italian art publishing house Treccani will be issued to its richly illustrated catalog.

The exhibition is organized by the Latvian National Museum of Art in cooperation with Ufici galleries and the Society Nuova Artemarea With the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, the Riga City Council, the Embassy of Italy in Riga, the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in Italy, Rietumu Bank and other organizations.
