Pudan admitted in an interview with LTV's « Morning Panorama » that, with the new power, the US had confusion and controversy could affect the understanding of the Russian side of what is happening in NATO and leads to its miscalculated decisions.

He noted that Russia actively uses the situation and is trying to divide allies and societies. Information operations are the ones that Russia is trying to use now, as it cannot renew it in the existing war conditions.

Currently, along with the war in Ukraine, both the destruction and development of the Russian armed forces are underway, Pudan said, who does not believe in Russia's desire to reach peace.

Pudan did not judge whether the US would pull off its units from Europe and Latvia, but hopes that the US leadership would still listen to their military opinion that the security of Europe itself is also the security of the US.

However, the NAF commander admitted that the US could review the presence of individual soldiers, but it is important that the US retains its combat capacity elements in Europe, especially in areas where Europe has a lack of ability, such as air forces and anti -aircraft protection.

In Latvia, US forces are present with rotating units, including at times in a very minimal composition, and respectively, they are not the basic part of Latvia's defense plans based on the permanent forces in the country, Pudan said.

On the other hand, Pudan noted that the NAF budget requests were not based on digits from GDP, but on specific armaments, ammunition and staff.

He stressed that the army needs more resources to develop the capabilities that Latvia already has, but which needs to be more powerful and more sustainable.
