There is a risk of spreading two viral animal diseases in Ukraine: how to react

In Ukraine, « hot lines » for animals who suspect them with the viral diseases of Yaschur and Blutana were created. They will act in each of the areas.
Earlier, outbreaks of these ailments were recorded in the European Union. In the State Consumer Service believethat the risks of pathogens in Ukraine are « high ».
Murrain – Viral diseasewhich mostly affects cattle, pigs and other ungulates. At the same time, the pathogen can cause illness in wild animals, such as deer, goat, moose and wild boars.
The disease has more than 60 strains, but immunity to one « family » of them does not protect against others.
The severity of the signs of the carrier depends on the strain of the virus, age, species and breed of a sick animal. Usually manifestations of the disease are:
- fever;
- lesions of the oral cavity, tongue, udder in cows;
- salivation;
- anorexia;
- lameness;
- miscarriage;
- reduction of milk productivity;
- Sudden death of a newborn young.
People can be infected with a lizard due to the consumption of raw milk of diseased animals, as well as products of its processing. Cases of infection of people through meat are rarely recorded.
In addition, the disease from animal to humans can be transmitted by airborne droplets.
Wanderingor blue tongue is an infectious viral disease that affects ruminants, more often sheep and cattle. The disease has high mortality and causes death in 90-100% of cases.
The animal can be infected through the bite of the wetting species of Culicoide and the Culicoides Imicola midges. Beasts can become infected by the virus because of contact with each other, including sperm and placenta to the fetus.
The signs of wandering are:
- fever;
- salivation;
- the appearance of bleeding ulcers;
- lip swelling;
- inflammatory-necrotic impression of the oral cavity;
- cyanosis (bluish color) of the tongue;
- conjunctivitis;
- miscarriage.
Wandering not transmitted People do not pose a threat to the safety of products.
The State Consumer Service urges animal owners to carefully monitor the condition of animals in order to identify the symptoms of disease in a timely manner. In case of suspicion, you should immediately contact the « hotline » of your region whose number can be found on the site.
