Killed his father in Berk
For Tomislav Pršlj (1940), the son of Erdovan sought for 34 years. Until early 1990, Croats and Serbs lived together in Berk, a small village near Vukovar. And then, in one day, the Serbs killed 56 of yesterday's neighbors and friends of Croats. Among them was Tomislav Prsl. He was 51 years old, his wife Anđu and six children. He had an old father and mother of that land, which he cultivated to survive. He was a Croatian defender, a member of the 204th HV Brigade.
– Berak was occupied on September 2. A Serbian army was organized in the village and that day killed everyone they saw on the street. On the day of the occupation in the house was the late brother Zeljko with Dad, who came home from the field to rest. One locals who had a truck loaded everyone who wanted to escape from the village and came out at the last minute. Among them was Brother Zeljko. Dad didn't want to go even though his brother persuaded him and pushed him into a truck. Many older locals did not want to go. They naively believed that no one would do anything to them, that they had not hurt anyone, that they were not guilty of anything, and the beasts that killed them came – Erdovan described in 2020.
All the people who stayed in the village captured on September 4, among them his father.
– They worked all sorts of horrors, threw them into the wells, pushed their rats into their mouths. My father was particularly tortured and abused by our sons. He was brought from the house in front of the local office and beat him with a stick. Eventually they took him to the pasture and killed him there. Three Chetniks were with him at that moment and I know who they were. After killing him, they sent two for his body. They wanted to bury him in the cemetery, but the Chetniks did not give, but ordered him to bury him in a pasture under one willow – says Erdovan. His father's body, he says, was there until 1993, when the JNA came to the village again. They then dug it and drove it to an unknown location. Now, 34 years later, they finally found him.
