The Zvolen people still do not know what caused carcinogenic soot. The city wants to educate them about
The investigation has not yet found any culprit.
Oily black soot was noticed on the clothes of children playing outdoors and on the paws of dogs. Such pollution has not yet been here, the concerned of the Zvolen city deputies say and ask the authorities for an explanation. After four months they still didn’t know anything.
The soot appeared in the city at the end of last year on the window sills or cars, the greasy moment was covered with the Zvolen dam Môťová.
Analysis made by opposition Progressive Slovakiashowed that soot contains carcinogenic substances.
Recently, the municipality has talked about unusual pollution with responsible institutions, but the causes have not learned about the causes.
The discussion turned into the quality of the air as such, in which worsening has a large proportion and heating. According to the mayor, the city plans to an educational campaign on individual heating of houses at the council.
Several deputies are disappointed that they are not solved soot, but long -term pollution, which is a separate problem.
« I imagined that today they will come from other bodies and explain to us how they proceeded, how they took samples, so that people could see that something was happening, » said Branislav Husar. According to him, the nervousness of residents who do not have information is growing.
The police are still investigating
Unusual pollution concerns the axes, parts Zvolena near the industrial zone. The problem at the end of autumn was pointed out by Zvolen MEP Denisa Zánská.
Zvolen has been fighting pollution for many years, like many other municipalities. This time, according to the inhabitants, this is a new, another problem that has not yet appeared in the city.
« I have lived here since childhood, this was not even the time when the village was not yet gasified and more houses were heated by solid fuel, » says city deputy Robert Orság.
The analysis that the PS had made in a certified chemical laboratory showed the presence of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. A significant concentration of benzo (a) pyrene, which is one of the strongest carcinogens in this group of substances, has also been confirmed.
The case is investigated by the environment in cooperation with the Slovak Environmental Inspectorate and other professional organizations. The inspection has been carrying out checks since December, samples have been sampled in several industrial enterprises and from the surface of the water reservoir in Môťová.
For suspicion of combustion of tires and plastics, they carried out a check in Bučina Zvolen. The company operates two biomass combustion equipment with flue gas drain through a steel chimney.
« Preliminary findings have not confirmed the combustion of tires or other hazardous waste. Checking at Bučina Zvolen is not completed and therefore it is not possible to comment in more detail, » the inspection informs.
The inspection also controlled Kronospan and the State MH Teplárenský holding, nor did it detect violations.
Inspectors also worked with the hypothesis that the source of pollution can be local lenses with inappropriate combustion. « Several inspections have been carried out in this context, but the clear origin of the pollution has not been identified, » the inspection said.
The environment did not provide more information.
The question of heating is said to distract attention
The city of Zvolen was invited to the meeting of 18 March.
Mayor Vladimír Maňka Z Direction He says that the inspection must understand that citizens are concerned and do not have information. “We have agreed to contact the headquarters in Bratislava And they will find a way to inform. «
As a result of the meeting, in addition to the ambiguous partial results of the investigation, the mayor presented that the city will educate about heating family houses. « They can burn poor and damp fuel there and that may be a problem, » he said.
In Slovakia, according to statistics, more than 70 percent of air pollution is small sources of pollution, ie people who heat in their homes.
Zvolen should now cope with this long-standing problem, MP Ľubomír Zdút-Žij happy. « The sources of pollution are many. Only now we are starting to respond to it, because the threat has taken on an empirical form. »
« People do not want to hear that they too have a share of poor air quality, » said SHMI expert Emília Hroncová. The episode with unusual pollution may help that the Zvolen people begin to talk about the air.
MEP Denisa Zhyska pointed out that similar soot did not appear in neighboring municipalities, but only near the industrial zone of Zvolen. « We understand that the air quality is impaired by small sources, but the soot is not in Kováčová or Sliač. »
According to other deputies, the pollution must be caused by a large pollutant. « I do not like how you are pushing around here that wet wood and plastics are burned in Môťová, » said Branislav Husár.
Tamara Stohlová from PS says it is a separate problem. « It is to deal with local and scattered air pollution from household heating. »
SHMI solves only air quality as a whole
The quality of the air in Zvolen is monitored by the SHMI through the monitoring station at the J. Alexy school. It monitors the PM10 and PM2.5 dust particles.
Last year, according to Hroncova, they were exceeded in five days in Zvolen. The Institute is intended to control the quality of the air as a whole and should not address emergency conditions.
« At that time, several unfavorable factors probably met, » Hroncova said about black sole. « Quality is not only given by the pollutant to get into it, but also to the variable conditions. »
The chief controller of the city Peter Košík pointed out that the SHMI in Zvolen is using optical methods to find out if there is a benzo (a) pyrene in the air.
« There is now a discussion of fatty socks – they have nothing to do with the optical method and dust, » he said. « We do not question SHMI or dust, but we are interested in the fatty soot, their chemical composition, concentration and impact on health. »
MEP Martina Mészáros Bariaková has long pointed out that the meter is on a hill where the scattering is large. « What we can measure there, try to put it somewhere on the bed and see, » she said. Part of the flower bed was described by deputies as the most critical.
Hroncová from SHMI points out that moving the station is not easy. « We have accurate rules for the placement of monitoring stations, this station is Frameová, it should represent a certain background within the territory, » he explains.
The council approved the resolution that if the significant incidence of black fatty soot is repeated, the city will ensure a professional analysis in the accredited laboratory and at the same time files another criminal complaint.
