The youthful pride

It is said that young people today have more pride than those of other generations. At first, when I heard or read it, I doubted and thought: ‘Heck, the pride in youth is intrinsic, is part. Which young man does not know everything, and does not ‘kill’ parents, and who won’t – now – change the world? Being young and being full of certainties is as natural as being full of vitality. ‘ But then, I put myself to mature on the subject, and to observe better, and it is able to be true that the time today is of a mold that the youth pride is a bigger better. And the reasons are several. One, I believe, is the changes in education models. Education ideologically evolved in the sense of sketching the vertical relationship of learning and eroding authority, while valuing itself – perhaps too – the role of the learner and his experiences. And this generates Hubris, cannot help but generate. On the other hand, times are characterized by something that has never been seen, which is being partly ‘educated’ by other young people. That is, they hear, read, see, in networks, in podcasts, in youtubes, even in traditional media, young people like them, who have a voice, who influence, who have channels or stages, which are models. In the past, educators were always older, even children’s and youth literature was written by adults. Today, the domain of education, formation and influence ceased to belong exclusively to parents, grandparents, teachers. Friends are no longer just the accomplices of growth and clandestinity, the comrades of dreams, the equals, others like me; They are authorized and listened to, they are true influencers, they are protagonists. Now this gives Hubris, can only give.
On the other hand, society, with its cult of eternal youth, adolested itself. Youth is no longer a time of passage, it is a time of being, of being whole. And it is – it’s very – a nostalgia horizon for the elders, it’s a model, it’s a torturous aspiration. And that inculcates a strong sense of certainty and strength in who is in this time. After complaining of the youthful pride, when it is juvenile that everyone wanted to continue to be, and some even mimic being. And at the same time, this part of the population, when having a voice, having purchasing power and being socially relevant, became, not only a social actor, but an audience, which must be pleased, or at least not displeasing, to those who speak and that he is heard, and to which he is also sold, sometimes even idolizes. Who, 40 or 30 years old, wanted to know about my certainties and youth truths, who gave me the stage, who dated my tastes, who shook my head and smiled on the point of my worldview? One more reason, a cause of things. And there is more.
For example, being able to block someone. Have you seen greater power? Any young man doesn’t like it today, he doesn’t want to, he goes to the button and blocks, and the person disappears. It disappears from the virtual reality in which much of life goes on today. And cancel? I don’t like it, I don’t like it, Cancele, and I still do, perhaps, a group to cancel in a collective. What a power! I, poor, poor, spiritual and without tools and digital defenses, there in analog eighties of the last century, if I didn’t want someone to tell me you couldn’t block, because in the guy to face it doesn’t, and even on the disc phone was not easy, except with a listening to the header or pulling the wall from the wall. At the very time, in the guy to the face (there was no virtual realities), the back turned, the ears were covered, but yet anything was still heard. And I still risked – what a horror – to take a span from my grandmother. I caught one or the other, and I must be sure, all traumatized, all outdated inside. It’s right. Paraphrasing Dr. Freud, I must be envy of youth.
