The world reacts to the pope’s passing

The news of the Pope’s death came on Monday morning and the reactions to his passing are many.

« With grief, I receive the message about Pope Francis’s passing. I will remember his important voice for openness and collaboration in our time, » Archbishop Martin Modéus said in a press release.

Both Martin Modéus and Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson take up the Pope’s visit to Sweden 2016.

Cardinal Anders Arborelius, who will participate in the Conklaven where a new pope is chosen, urges all Catholics to pray for the Pope and to seek inspiration in his life action.

« Jesus’ love for the wounded, ill -fitted humanity and his boundless pity always shone in Francis’s encounters with people. When he sat down in prayer, he could look quite bald, but as soon as he met people he radiated goodness and empathy, » he says in a press release.

France’s President Emmanuel Macron believes that Pope Francis always took a stand for the weak.

– In this time of war and brutality, he has had a feeling for the others, the most vulnerable, he says.

Israel’s President Isaac Herzog writes on X that Francis was « a man with deep faith and unlimited compassion, he spent his life lifting the poor and calling for peace in a troubled world. »
