The World of the Painter Edmund Kartan
E. Kartan is a young generation painter living and creating in Vandžiogala. The painter, who attended the studio of the famous artist Antanas Obcarskas « Antaninis Apples », today teaches art secrets to children and adults attending his own « kartan studio ».
The artist cooperates with various cultural and art institutions in Kaunas, the public institution Gabrielle Art Gallery, organizes solo exhibitions not only in Lithuania – often participates in international collective exhibitions abroad, his works are published not only in the Lithuanian press but also in the German Goddessarts Magazine. Recently, the painter was granted the status of an artist.

In his work, Kartan combines various styles and themes that reflect the personal development of the artist. Starting with realistic landscapes and portraits, he later turned towards abstract painting. The painter’s work is diverse, and is characterized by a deep reflection on human states, the perception of nature and the world. The works invite the viewer to engage in the narrative, to discover their own interpretations and secrets.
In the stories of E. Kartan we will find subtle details, color, variety of shapes, expressive, unexpected coloristic dynamics. A frequent work reflects a certain state that is expressed through the detail of nature, a fragment of architecture, a situation revealed by an unconventional angle, emphasizing or making everyday detail.

When it comes to creativity, the painter is modest: « These are personal inspirations of nature. You realize that no work will be better than the creator’s original, an attempt to see light, line, stain or in nature and convey it in large -format canvas. »
At the exhibition in Romuva, E. Kartan presented the fifteen newest large -format canvas dominated by abstract and realistic landscapes, flowers, mountain motifs, birds. Exceptional attention « Dance at the Sea », « Origins », « Spawn », « Sun’s kiss », « The spirit of the moon », « Recurry ».
