The Working Party proposes changes to the inheritance tax – HS asked what ordinary people think

HS went on to ask what kind of thoughts the potential removal of inheritance tax in people arises.

Should Inheritance tax abandon?

Varma CEO Risto Murron led by a growth team gave up on Friday their final report. The aim of the working group was to list concrete proposals that would bring the Finnish economy to grow. As one of the actions, the working group proposed the reimbursement of inheritance tax with capital gains tax.

Currently, inheritance tax has to be paid if the inheritance received is worth € 20,000 or more. The capital gains tax would only be paid when the property was sold.

HS asked the citizens what they think on the proposal of the working group.

Jukka-Pekka Syrjäaho

“A bit of a two -barreled thing. It can be a big financial burden for the individual if the inheritance tax suddenly has to be paid. On the other hand, I understand that it is an important source of income for the state. Wonderful if it was completely abandoned. However, in everyday life, it sounds quite competent that it would be replaced by capital gains tax. ”

Giving up Sirpa Extrömic inheritance tax could be a good thing.

Sirpa Ekström

“I've been living in Sweden for over 40 years. There is no inheritance tax anymore, and that's a good thing. Personally, I think that the tax would not have to be paid until the property is sold. I'm not completely aware of the situation in Finland, but I think giving up inheritance tax could be a good idea here too. ”

According to Jussi Harmaala, inheritance tax should not be removed.

Jussi gray

“No inheritance tax should be removed. It is a income that man has not earned his own work. Man has done nothing for it, so it can be taxed. Of course, when you get a legacy, something should be left in your hand. However, it should be noted that companies' generational changes in this context are different in this context and should be considered separately for this inheritance tax. ”

Ilona Lastunen thinks that giving up inheritance tax could increase the accumulation of wealth for certain people.

Ilona Lastunen

“I am not very familiar with it, but I don't consider the proposal very sensible. It sounds like this as a result, wealth could accrue more to certain people. After all, it maintains a certain kind of system as wealth moves from one generation to the next. Inheritance issues are not current right now, but they have touched people in my immediate circle. ”

Juha-Pekka Rusanen, Mayor of Kiuruvesi, is in favor of abandoning inheritance tax.

Juha-Pekka Rusanen

“I think inheritance tax is a remnant of the past. As a mayor of Kiuruvesi, I have heard from many entrepreneurs to change. Business wealth is often attached to machines, equipment and buildings. In this way, inheritance tax makes generational change. Right now there are many retirement entrepreneurs that are affected by the matter. ”
